Open Market - the EVE Frontier market, run by players
EVE Frontier has no Jita. There is no central trade hub where the whole cluster buys and sells — trading happens where players build it, on Smart Storage Units scattered across 24,000+ systems. Open Market is how you find it: every live market in one view, each one a real two-sided order book — sell orders and buy orders — bound to one storage unit and settled on-chain. Any storage owner can run a market, and anyone can trade at any of them. You do not need a storage unit of your own, and you do not need to install anything: browse and buy in a normal web browser or the in-game browser.
The browse-all view at ef-map.com/civ-control/market/all lists goods across every live market at once. Browsing needs no wallet and no structures of your own; buying needs only a connected pilot. EF-Map surfaces Open Market from the in-app Tools Library under Utilities.
What is Open Market?
In the current cycle of EVE Frontier there is no functioning NPC market to fall back on — trading is player-built or it does not happen. Open Market is a marketplace extension for Smart Storage Units, built as part of CivilizationControl: a storage owner deploys it on a unit they own, and that unit becomes a public market with its own web address. Each market is a real order book in the EVE style — sells ascending above buys descending with a visible spread — not a storefront list. Orders, escrowed goods, and escrowed funds live on-chain, not in the website. Background: the launch post.
How to buy items in EVE Frontier
- Browse. Open the all-markets view (or a single market's own address) and filter by what is actually in stock. No wallet needed to look.
- Connect when you buy. In a desktop browser, connect the EVE Vault wallet extension — the wallet tied to your EVE Frontier character. In the in-game browser, the client wallet connects automatically.
- Buy on-chain. Prices are shown in Lux (100 Lux = 1 EVE); a purchase is an on-chain trade settled in EVE, and the goods are delivered to your item hangar at the storage unit that holds them.
- Collect in game. Fly to the storage and pick up your goods whenever it is online. Markets do not currently publish their in-space location, so check with the market's operator — every market page shows who runs it.
How to sell items in EVE Frontier
Two ways, and neither needs structures of your own. The quick way is selling into buy orders: any live market with an open buy order for something you carry pays out on-chain the moment you sell into it. The patient way is listing sell orders: haul your goods to a market's storage unit, list them from your item hangar there at a per-unit price you set, and they sit on the order book until they sell or expire. If you own a Smart Storage Unit, the third option is running the market yourself — see below.
What you get
Every market in one view
The all-markets workspace lists goods across every live market, with per-row attribution so you can see which storage sells what — the closest thing to a trade hub the Frontier has.
A real order book
Sell orders and buy orders per item with a visible spread — bound to one physical storage unit, in the familiar EVE style.
Browse without a wallet
Markets are public. Looking costs nothing and asks for nothing; a wallet is only involved when you trade.
Browser or in game
The market page is built for the in-game browser first and works in any desktop browser too.
Sell there too
List goods you hold in your item hangar at that storage, or sell into open buy orders — any player can trade at any market.
On-chain, not in a website
Orders, escrowed stock, and escrowed funds live on the chain. Your buy orders can be cancelled and refunded even while the storage is offline.
Run a market on your own storage
If you own a Smart Storage Unit, you can host a market yourself. In CivilizationControl, open the storage under Trade Posts and choose Open Market in its Marketplace section — establishing the market takes one signature. You list stock from the storage's main hangar, set per-unit prices, and choose order durations from 1 to 14 days; live controls cover pausing, resuming, and winding the market down. The market's address can also be written to the unit on-chain, so its market opens from the SSU's own in-game window.
Open Market and EF-Map
Open Market is CivilizationControl's player-facing market surface, served on the EF-Map domain under /civ-control/market. EF-Map lists it in the Tools Library (Utilities) so anyone can find the live markets without knowing the URL — selecting the tile opens the all-markets view in a new browser tab. Deploying and managing a market happens in CivilizationControl; buying needs neither.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a market in EVE Frontier?
Yes, but not an NPC one: there is no Jita and no central trade hub. Trading runs on player-deployed markets on Smart Storage Units - on-chain order books with sell and buy orders, set up by storage owners through CivilizationControl. Anyone can browse every live market and buy from any of them at ef-map.com/civ-control/market/all.
How do I sell items in EVE Frontier?
Sell into an open buy order at any live market for instant on-chain payment, or haul goods to a market's storage unit and list them as sell orders at your own price from your item hangar there. Storage owners can also run a market of their own. Browsing the order books to find buyers costs nothing.
Where do I find active markets?
The all-markets view at ef-map.com/civ-control/market/all lists every live Open Market and what is actually in stock or wanted across all of them, with per-row attribution showing which storage and operator each order belongs to. That single page is the fastest way to see where trading is happening right now.
Do I need CivilizationControl to buy from an Open Market?
No. CivilizationControl is only used by storage owners to deploy and manage a market. Buyers just open the market in a web browser or the in-game browser - there is nothing to install and no storage unit of your own required.
Do I need a wallet to browse the markets?
No. Browsing is public and never triggers a wallet prompt. Buying connects the EVE Vault wallet - the browser extension tied to your EVE Frontier character; in the in-game browser the client wallet connects automatically.
How do I collect what I bought?
In game, at the storage unit that holds the goods: purchases are delivered to your item hangar there, and you can collect whenever that storage is online. Markets do not currently publish their in-space location, so arrange it with the market's operator - every market page shows who runs it.
Can I sell on someone else's market?
Yes. Any player can list goods they hold in their own item hangar at that storage, or sell into the market's open buy orders. The storage owner lists from the unit's main hangar and can take listings down by winding the market down.
