EF Helper 🪟 Windows
EF-Map's Windows desktop companion bridges a running EVE Frontier client with EF-Map. While connected, it can provide location sync, mining telemetry, combat tracking, and an in-game overlay.
What is EF Helper?
EF Helper is a Windows desktop application that connects EVE Frontier with EF-Map. While the helper and game client are connected, it provides:
- Live location sync – See your in-game position on EF-Map instantly
- Follow mode – EF-Map automatically centers on your current system
- In-game overlay – View route information without alt-tabbing
- Telemetry dashboards – Mining and combat stats from the connected session
Key Features
📍 Live Location Sync
Your position updates on EF-Map while the helper and game client remain connected.
🎯 Follow Mode
EF-Map automatically pans to keep your current system centered on screen.
⛏️ Mining Telemetry
Track mining stats with overlay widgets showing yield, efficiency, and value.
⚔️ Combat Dashboard
Monitor combat metrics during engagements without leaving the game.
🗺️ Route Overlay
See your planned route waypoints directly in-game via the overlay.
🔧 Connection Diagnostics
Built-in tools to troubleshoot helper ↔ browser communication.
How It Works
- Install EF Helper – Download from the Microsoft Store (free)
- Launch EVE Frontier – Start your game as usual
- Open EF-Map – Navigate to ef-map.com in your browser
- Connect – EF Helper automatically bridges the game and browser
- Enable overlay – Toggle the in-game overlay from the helper panel
Microsoft Store Distribution
EF Helper is distributed through the Microsoft Store for security and convenience:
- Code-signed – Verified publisher identity
- Auto-updates – Always get the latest features and fixes
- Easy install/uninstall – Standard Windows app management
- User-space install – Overlay injection still requires the helper and game client to run at matching privilege levels
EF-Map Integration
Once connected, the EF Helper panel in EF-Map provides:
- Connection status – See if the helper is connected and healthy
- Overlay controls – Enable/disable and configure the in-game overlay
- Telemetry tabs – Mining, combat, and probe scanner dashboards
- Session history – Track visited systems and activity over time
Troubleshooting
Overlay won't start, doesn't render, or the game freezes when you press Start Overlay? Run our diagnostic tool — it performs read-only checks for the usual culprits (helper/game elevation mismatch, conflicting overlays such as Discord, Steam, NVIDIA, RivaTuner or OBS, and antivirus interference) and writes a report you can send to support. Nothing to install:
- Have the game and helper running (or run this right after a freeze)
- Open PowerShell: press the Windows key, type
powershell, press Enter - Copy this command, paste it into the PowerShell window (right-click pastes), press Enter:
irm https://ef-map.com/ef-helper/diagnose_injection_failure.ps1 | iex - When it finishes, the report opens in Notepad automatically and the file is highlighted in an Explorer window (saved on your Desktop)
- Send that file to [email protected] or post it in the EF-Map Discord, with a short description of what happens
Prefer to read it first? Download the script — note that double-clicking a downloaded script is blocked by Windows security policy; the copy-paste command above avoids that.
Also: the browser needs permission to talk to the helper. If asked to allow access to apps on your device, allow it — and if you blocked it in the past the browser won't ask again: click the icon at the left of the address bar, switch Apps on device on, then reload the page.
