EVE Frontier Cinematic Mode
Turn the EVE Frontier star map into a living, ambient starfield. Cinematic Mode is a stylized presentation layer over EF-Map's real universe data: every one of the 24,000+ stars is an actual solar system, rendered in its true spectral color through an HDR pipeline, suspended in a volumetric nebula with a filmic finish. It runs free in your browser, with nothing to install.
What is Cinematic Mode?
It is the same 3D map you plan routes on, re-lit for watching instead of working. Hot blue giants bloom, red dwarfs stay dim, and meteor streaks, comets, and the occasional supernova flash drift through the scene. The film look — bloom, vignette, grain, lens dirt, depth of field — is pre-tuned and locked, so there is nothing to configure. The panel gives you just the choices that matter:
🌌 Real Starlight
Realistic spectral colors by default, or tint the whole galaxy blue, purple, green, red, gold, or white.
🎥 Auto Tour
The camera picks a star, glides toward it, holds, and pans back out on its own. Switch it on and never touch the mouse.
🎵 Ambient Music
An opt-in soundtrack: 'Decoherence' and 'Unraveling' by Scott Buckley (CC BY 4.0). Silent until you switch it on.
✨ Bloom Control
One slider for how hard the bright stars glow. Everything else in the film chain is balanced around it.
🧭 Your Own Orbit
Click any star to center the view on it; the camera orbits from wherever you leave it. Pause Cam freezes the drift for screenshots.
☄️ Ambient Events
Meteors, comets, and rare supernova flashes keep the scene alive without ever demanding attention.
Made to Be Left Running
Cinematic Mode is built for idle screens: a stream background, a second monitor, the TV in the corner of the office. Audio stays off unless you enable it, so it is safe to open mid-stream. If you want the starfield inside your own site instead, the Embed Guide covers orbit-camera iframe embeds.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a screensaver mode for EVE Frontier?
Yes — EF-Map's Cinematic Mode turns the full EVE Frontier star map into an ambient, self-directing starfield. Open ef-map.com/?panel=cinematic, enable Auto Tour, and leave it running. It is free and needs no account.
Can I use it as a stream background?
That is exactly what it is built for. It runs at a smooth frame rate in any modern browser, audio is off unless you enable it, and the camera directs itself. Capture the browser window in OBS or run it on a second display.
Does it play music?
Only if you switch it on. The Cinematic panel has an opt-in Ambient Music toggle with a volume slider — two pieces by composer Scott Buckley, used under CC BY 4.0 with credit shown in the panel. Nothing downloads until you enable it.
